Hi Guys! Welcome to our blog Magnificent Sri Lanka. I am Kalum born at the center of beautiful Hill country, Nuwara Eliya. After graduating from University of Ruhuna at Matara, I moved to Japan for my Post Graduate studies. I completed my Master and Doctoral degrees at Tohoku University, Sendai, while enjoying the lovely cherry blossom and visiting wonderful attractions in country. Next I joined to Kyoto University as a researcher and blessed to visit many ancient temples and historical sites in Kyoto. Later, I moved to Singapore and worked in Nanyang Technological University for Two years. During these journeys, I met a lot of new friends, I taught them about marvelous attractions of Sri Lanka. I wanted to share our insider knowledge, so visitors can experience Sri Lanka like a local. Years later, our idea of starting an easy to read local travel guide came to success and Magnificent Sri Lanka is born!
Hi Guys! Thanks a lot for visiting our about us page. I am Hemi born in the proud city of Dutch Fort, Galle. I studied at Southlands College, the most prestigious girls’ college in Southern Sri Lanka. Next I graduated from University of Ruhuna and moved to Japan with my husband for my post graduate studies. I met a lot of new friends there. They were so curious about Sri Lanka, the language, the food as well as about Sri Lankan people. At that time, I got the idea about starting a travel blog to help many others to learn about everything of Sri Lanka. I understood that most of the resources you find online are written from a foreigner perspective. When we move back to Sri Lanka, we started this blog as a way to help visitors to learn many hidden attractions and local travel tips.
